3.2.3 Option byte R/W
3.2.3.1 Option byte read
PowerWriter supports reading and writing Option Byte online, via the menu Read Option Byte and Write Option Byte Implemented, as shown in the figure, the online reading of Option Byte will be synchronised to the Option Byte tab on the software side of the Power Writer application, which supports mirrored reading with a read-protected chip.
- When connecting the target chip for the first time: by default the option bytes are automatically read into the PowerWriter software, ref Behaviors and Preferences。
- When the chip has level 2 read protection, it may not be possible to read the target chip data.
- Option word read/write for some chips requires additional signal pins, please refer to the brand-specific FAQ description in the FAQ.
3.2.3.2 Option Byte Write
PowerWriter supports reading and writing Option Byte online, via the menu Read Option Byte and Write Option Byte The PowerWriter will reset the target chip when the option byte is written, or perform a power-down reset to take effect. The result of updating the option byte through the PowerWriter is shown in the figure:
Note: Some chips require access to the RESET hardware pin to make it effective immediately.
